July, 2009 -- HOUSTON - Medical device maker AndroDx has secured $1.095 million in Series B funding to develop a more accurate diagnostic test for prostate cancer, the company has announced. The money is expected to sustain the research and development of AndroDx's proprietary technologies and to continue human clinical trials officials said.

June 15, 2008 - HOUSTON – Rice University’s Rice Alliance recently announced the top 10 winners of its 7th Annual Life Science Venture Forum, an annual contest designed to showcase new ventures.

More than 350 investors, venture capitalists, industry representatives, business leaders, advisors and mentors, service providers, and entrepreneurs attended.

The winners were dubbed the "Top 10 Most Promising Life Science Companies," and were chosen from nearly 40 competitors, based on the companies’ elevator pitch presentations. This exercise simulates meeting an investor on an elevator, and having only 60 seconds to convince the investor to buy into your company.

Since it began seven years ago, the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center has co-hosted and supported the contest.

"The event is aligned with our mission at M.D. Anderson’s Office of Technology Commercialization to move our most promising innovations out of the lab and into the clinic," said Chris Capelli, vice president of M.D. Anderson’s Office of Technology Commercialization at the U.T. M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.

September, 2008 – Andro Diagnostics, Inc. has moved to temporary laboratory quarters located at the Houston Technology Center. The company was able to remove valuable equipment, computers and supplies from its Galveston facilities before hurricane Ike flooded first floor offices. No major structural damage was incurred in the building and clean up operations are underway. The company has continued to support and service clinical sites now evaluating the use of zinc measurement in diagnosis of prostate cancer.

The money is expected to sustain the research and development of AndroDx's proprietary technologies and, together with recently received funding from an SBIR grant, to launch human clinical trials officials said.

April, 2008 – Andro Diagnostics, Inc announces a strategic partnership with NeuroBioTex, Inc. involving the clinical evaluation of a zinc test for evaluation of prostate cancer. In May, NeuroBioTex was awarded an SBIR Phase 2 Grant to study zinc in the prostate gland as a possible marker for onset of cancer. NeuroBioTex has previously observed that zinc concentration decreases with onset of cancer. The clinical trial will be scheduled to start later in 2008 in three medical centers that specialize in prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment. "We are extremely pleased to have received this important award both because it helps provide vital funding to support our clinical trials and because the review of our proposal by experts in the field validates our technical concept", said Cathleen Frederickson, AndroDx CEO.
